Maui New Year’s Eve Fireworks & Special Celebrations
If you’re staying with us over New Year’s Eve, you’ll find plenty to do, including grand fireworks displays, festive dinners and a whole lot of warm aloha. Here’s what’s going on around Maui for New Year’s Eve.
For many years running, the island’s biggest fireworks show is held in Wailea. The reason it is not more widely publicized is that there isn’t enough parking available to open it to the general public. We have seen signs that there will be fireworks in Wailea again this year, but details are secret.
Our main clue that there will be fireworks this year is that the boat companies are advertising New Year’s Eve fireworks cruises sailing to Wailea. Assuming that the midnight fireworks display is indeed on, it should be visible from most Wailea resort properties with the fireworks shooting from 600 to 700 feet off shore.
If you are staying somewhere beyond Wailea, ask locals for their recommendations for viewing the fireworks. We can’t say for certain how visible the fireworks might be from points beyond Wailea.
